Following an unforgettable Canada Day in Ottawa, Adrian Sutherland reflects with gratitude after performing at the 2026 Canada Day National Noon Ceremony.
Held July 1 at LeBreton Flats Park, the nationally televised celebration brought together talented Canadian artists including Alessia Cara, TOBi, and Deantha Edmunds, along with inspiring special guests such as astronaut Jeremy Hansen and athlete Rick Hansen. The event featured music, dance, stories, an Order of Canada ceremony, and a flyover by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. The ceremony was hosted by Julie St-Pierre and actor Melissa O’Neil.
Sutherland performed his all-Cree song Notawe (Father) sharing his Omushkegowuk Cree language and culture with audiences in Ottawa and with viewers across Canada and around the world. Performing on one of the country’s largest national stages marked a meaningful milestone. Sutherland is grateful for the opportunity to celebrate Canada’s diversity through music while continuing to highlight his culture.
Sutherland also extends his sincere thanks to everyone who attended the ceremony, tuned in to the live broadcast, and shared messages of encouragement before and after the performance. The outpouring of support from fans, friends, and family made the experience even more special.
The Canada Day performance kicks off a busy summer for Sutherland, who will be performing at festivals and events across Canada while sharing his blend of roots-rock, country, blues, and music rooted in Cree culture and language.
