Adrian Sutherland has received two nominations at the 2025 Ontario Folk Music Awards.
Sutherland’s sophomore album, Precious Diamonds, is in the running for Album of the Year, while the vibrant music video for Precious is nominated for Music Video of the Year. The winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony on October 15, 2025, at Ottawa’s National Arts Centre.
ABOUT PRECIOUS DIAMONDS
Released in March 2024, Precious Diamonds explores universal themes of love, loss, and resilience, inspired by Sutherland’s experiences growing up in the remote northern community of Attawapiskat, Ontario.
The 10-track album was recorded in Nashville with GRAMMY-winning producer Colin Linden and features two songs sung in Sutherland’s first language, Omushkegowuk Cree. The album builds on the success of his debut solo release, When the Magic Hits (2021), which earned him his first JUNO nomination and introduced his music to a wider national audience.
ABOUT PRECIOUS
The nominated music video, Precious, brings the song’s message to life, paying homage to all that is precious: the next generation, the cycle of life, future guardians of this land, and hope for tomorrow.
Filmed in Winnipeg, Precious features dancers from the SummerBear Dance Troupe performing traditional shawl, grass, and jingle dress dances. It was directed by Jorge Requena Ramos, filmed and edited by Landon Lake, and executive produced by Sutherland himself.
