Northern Canadian roots-rocker-with-heart Adrian Sutherland is proud to release the music video for I'm Not Afraid, an uplifting new song co-written with youth from Kashechewan First Nation as part of the community’s Choose Life Program.
In 2025, Sutherland travelled to Kashechewan on three separate occasions to work closely with a group of local youth, writing a song rooted in resilience and connection. The result is a heartfelt anthem paired with a music video that captures the spirit of hope and collaboration behind the project.
ABOUT THE SONG
I’m Not Afraid was written collaboratively by Adrian Sutherland and Kashechewan youth, emerging from songwriting sessions facilitated through the Choose Life Program.
The track was produced, engineered, and mixed by Carl Jennings at Westmoreland Recording Studio, with mastering by João Carvalho Mastering. The gang vocals featured on the track are performed by the youth themselves, alongside brothers Chris and Matt Gormley.
ABOUT THE VIDEO
The accompanying music video brings the song’s message of hope and connection to life, spotlighting the youth who helped create and support the project from start to finish. I’m Not Afraid was filmed by Avery Wilton and edited by Brian Gregory.
A special shoutout to the Kashechewan youth who brought the song and music video to life, featuring Albert Mattinas, Anson Hughie, Coen Wesley, Deacon Lazarus, Jaime Williams, Jazmin Stephen, Khayden Koosees, Leondre Lazarus, and Raymos Nakogee.
The project was made possible through the support of the Choose Life Program, coordinated by Theresa Stephen, with project funding provided by Kashechewan Health Services.
Rooted in honesty and connection, I’m Not Afraid shows the strength that emerges when youth are supported and empowered through music.
