Precious: Official Selection at Bare Bones Film Festival

Adrian Sutherland’s foot-stomping music video Precious has been officially selected to screen at the 26th Bare Bones International Film & Music Festival in Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA. The 2025 in-person festival is coming up March 27-30, with an online festival happening March 31-April 6.

ABOUT THE MUSIC VIDEO

Filmed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Precious is brought to life by a talented filmmaking team and shot on location at the Buhler Recreation Park and West End Cultural Centre over two shooting days. Precious features four youth dancers, three Adrians, two locations, and one black jeep, paying homage to all that is precious: the next generation, the cycle of life, future guardians of this land, and a sense of hope for the future.

Precious is directed by Jorge Requena Ramos, with cinematography by Landon Lake, and produced by RoseAnna Schick. Featured in the music video is the Manitoba-based SummerBear Dance Troupe, with Jazzlyn Hart (Jingle Dress), Jordon Hart (Grass Dance), Jrayden Hart (Grass Dance), and Lillee Hotomani (Fancy Shawl).

Under the guidance of Barbara Nepinak, the troupe brings to life the cultures of indigenous communities, showcasing the richness of Ojibway, Cree, Assiniboine, and Sioux tribes. The name ‘SummerBear’ originated from the original name of Nepinak – “Neebin-ni-maqua” – which literally means ‘summer bear’ in Ojibway.

ABOUT THE SONG

Precious is not just a visually captivating music video. It's also a soul-stirring anthem inspired by soulful Black music from the American South. Co-written by Adrian Sutherland, Chris Gormley, and Matt Gormley, the song speaks to shared histories of resilience and struggle faced by Indigenous Peoples and People of Colour. Precious was produced by Colin Linden and can be found on Adrian's sophomore album, Precious Diamonds.

ABOUT BARE BONES

Founded in 1999, Bare Bones International Film & Music Festival was created to showcase independent film and music projects with low-budgets - hence the term ‘bare bones’. The festival takes place across several venues in Downtown Muskogee, and shines the spotlight on motion pictures with exceptional artistic vision and impactful global messages.
